59 kg poppy husk seized, 2 held

The police have arrested two persons after recovering 59 kg poppy husk from a truck near Sehbazpur canal at Rahon town of the district on Monday. The accused were identified as Sia Ram of Dholpur district in Rajasthan and Santu Singh of Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.

CIA staff in-charge Harjit Singh said that acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap near Sehbazpur canal, situated at Rahon-Jadla road of the district on Monday. A truck coming from the opposite site was stopped by police and during checking, it found 170 gunny bags of poppy husk. Singh said Nirmal Singh was the kingpin of the gang and belonged to Daulewal village in Moga district. He said the accused had been booked under the NDPS Act.
