A 70-year-old woman of Begampur Jandiala village has alleged that the police were not arresting the man who raped her a month ago.

The complainant, a childless widow, said that Suraj Sahota, aged between 30-35 years, came to her house on August 23 and dragged her in a room where he raped her and fled from the spot.

She said she first reported the matter to the village sarpanch and then to her relatives who in turn informed the Bulhowal police. She complained that an FIR was registered against the accused on August 31 but till date no arrest has been made.
Station house officer (SHO) Harneel Singh, however, said that the police were doing their best to nab the accused.
