9.60 kg poppy husk seized; one held

The Bilga police on Wednesday arrested a man and recovered 35 bags of poppy husk weighting 9.60 kg from him.

SHO Rupinder Singh said the accused has been identified as Dharminder Kumar alias Bhinda, a resident of Bilga village. He said the contraband was loaded in a Tata 407, which has been impounded. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPS) was registered against the accused and his three accomplices identified as Gurpreet Singh Gaga of Bilga village, Surjit Singh of Dharme Dian Chhanna village in Nakodar and Kali, who managed to flee.
