BJP candidate from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency Vijay Sampla on Wednesday joined the party nominees who are facing opposition from their own partymen.

A number of party's youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists led by its Phagwara president Ballu Walia staged a demonstration at Gol Chowk on NH1 on Tuesday to protest fielding of an "outsider".

Phagwara assembly segment falls in Hoshiarpur (reserved) Lok Sabha constituency.

The protesters raised anti-Sampla slogans. They asked BJP high command to reconsider its decision and nominate some local candidate for Lok Sabha polls.

BJP workers on Tuesday waved black flags and threw eggs at the cavalcade of Kirron Kher when she reached Chandigarh after being nominated by BJP for the Lok Sabha seat.
