In town for pre-release promotion of his movie, Young Malang, the actor said that he was proud to be part of the growing Punjabi film industry and would expect the audience to accept him in his new character of a romantic hero.

“Even though, I have primarily been a comedian, but I hope that romance that I have kept hidden from all is visible to the audience and the film does well.”

“In the movie, I am playing the role of professor Lathi. My character is different from Chacha Raunki Ram --- a rustic charcter that evoked humour by his antics and something that I am remembered for even now. Dr Lathi is a well-read jovial man who loves to spread happiness around.”

Recalling his college days, he said: “I started acting when I was 22 and mostly played the characters of old men.”

RSG Studios CEO and producer of the movie Young Malang, Rahulinder Singh, said, "Young Malang is an interesting script based on college life, romance and comedy."

The movie is directed by Rajdeep Singh and the cast includes Yuvraj Hans, bollywood actror Anjana Sukhani along with Neetu Singh, Anita Kailey, singers Balli Riar and Vinaypal Buttar.

Rahulinder said that the movie would tentatively be released in August.

"Besides Chandigarh, Zirakpur and Ropar as main locations, the unit is going to pan some foreign locales too. Some portions will be shot in Italy".

Mika, Javew Ali, Shafqat Amanat Ali and three actors in the movie Yuvraj Hans, Balli Riar and Vinaypal Buttar have sung the songs in the flick.
