City girl clinches 7th rank in PCS exam

Lecturer by profession, Navneet Kaur Bal clinched seventh position in Punjab Civil Services (PCS) Examination, the result of which has been declared on Thursday.

Navneet Kaur Bal, working as lecturer of electronics and communications in Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, Jalandhar, got 7th rank overall and first rank in Backward Class category.

Navneet lost her father 10 years back who was a banker while her mother is a teacher in a private school.  She said her result was up to her expectations.

“My mother and my younger brother helped me fulfill my dreams,” she said adding that but the rank has fascinated her as it was unexpected.

Navneet, who got 62.3% in the PCS exam, said she chose to crack civil services examination to help women and make them aware about their rights.

Navneet, the head girl of MGN Public School, dedicated her success to her alma mater for grooming her. Besides school and her family, Navneet dedicated her achievement to her teacher from Patiala, Vinod Sharma, mentors Satwant Gakhal, director, MGN Public School and professor CL Kochher, regional director, DAV College managing committee.

On her success mantra she said, “I focused on quality of time while studying as I believe there is no shortcut to success. It needs a lot of hard work.”

Make government officers more interactive and easily approachable are what Navneet is eyeing for.

The principal of Mehr Chand Polytechnic honoured her at a specially organized function in her honour.

Principal Jagroop said she is a meritorious child who has achieved number of awards and trophies in debate, declamation and other cultural events at the university level.
