The workers and councillors of District Congress on Wednesday stated a dharna to mark their protest against the failure of Municipal Corporation (MC) in providing civic amenities to the city people.
The activists led by Congress district president, Arun Walia sat outside the Nehru Garden and raised slogans against the ruling party alliance.
"Development in the entire has been stalled as corruption has been ruling all the offices of the municipal corporation. People are fed up from the silly excuses of the corporation officials," Walia said.
"Almost all the roads are full of potholes, street lights are non-operational, sewerage is choked in many areas; people have to pay repeated visits in the MC offices to get their genuine works done. Governance is nowhere and people are suffering," he added.
Several Congress leaders addressed the dharna and highlighted the failures of the MC.
