Villagers rushed the three to Shahkot civil hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
The SHO said that in her suicide note, which was tied to her arm, the deceased wrote that she was committing suicide at her own will and that nobody was responsible.

She wrote that she was heavily under debt and after her death her children would suffer, which is why she was killing them as well.

SHO said Hardeep Singh, husband of the deceased, told the police that he had to pay only about Rs. 5,000 as debt. The police acting under Section 174 of the CrPC handed over the body to the family.
