Financial aid of Rs. 2.44 crores for 266 cancer patients in Kapurthala

The financial assistance of Rs. 2.44 crores has been provided to 266 cancer patients of this district. Deputy commissioner Daljit Singh Mangat disclosed this here on Wednesday.


"We had received 276 applications so far from the cancer patients to seek help from chief minister cancer relief fund. Only 10 patients are left and they would also be provided financial assistance," he said.

"For the patients who were not covered under this scheme or who were availing assistance under the scheme and now getting treatment at their own expenses, can also get the drugs on subsidised rates at Jan Aushadhi Stores," he added.
The DC revealed that Punjab Government is providing most of the cancer drugs at 70% to 80% lesser than the MRP.

He further said that health department had launched a special campaign to identify the cancer patients at early stage and in the district more than 1.60 lakh houses were surveyed.

He said that during the survey symptoms of Cancer were found in 2878 people out of which 821 were identified as cancer patients.
