The attempt of two women to abduct two-month-old baby boy Pulkit at Krishan Nagar near Mandi Road on Tuesday failed as the child's mother started shouting for help.

A complaint in this regard has been lodged with the Navi Baradari police by Ridhima Gupta, mother of the child.

According to information, Ridhima was alone at her home at the time of the incident and the baby boy was playing in the courtyard.

Around 11am, two women rang the bell. As Ridhima opened the door, the women, who spoke in Hindi, introduced themselves as relatives of her in-laws.

Both sat in the room and asked for a glass of water. When Ridhima went to the kitchen to bring water, the women got hold of the child and tried to take him away.

But Ridhima was back in time and started shouting for help. Scared women then fled the house.

Ridhima immediately called up her husband Puneet, who informed the police.

Assistant sub-inspector Bhupinder Singh along with other policemen reached the house to find out the facts.

Station house officer Nirmal Singh said that the police have received a complaint and investigating the case.

BJP rivalry at work

Former minister and chief minister's political adviser Tikshan Sud has ruffled feathers by offering the Adamwal panchayat a chance to get the village merged in the municipal corporation after it was recently adopted by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha member Avinash Rai Khanna under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).
