Home guards not issued vouchers for free travel

The Punjab home Guards department has failed to issue travel vouchers to its volunteers to avail free bus travel facility in roadways buses even after more than  one year of thegovernment decision.

The financial personnel branch of the finance department in an official communication to principal secretary home affairs and transport has said that the Punjab council of minister in its meeting held on December 17, 2011 gaveits approval to the recommendation of the cabinet committee to offerfree bus travel facility to Home Guard volunteers in roadways buses.

Thecommunication said that to implement the council of ministers decisionnecessary action should be taken immediately. Home guards volunteerssaid they had not been issued travel vouchers yet by the home guarddepartment to avail free bustravel facility.

Home guards deputy inspector general Baldev Singh said that travel vouchers are to be issued by Commander General'soffice.
