Lieutant general AK Bakshi assumes command of Vajra Corps

Lieutenant general Ashwini Kumar Bakshi took over the command of Vajra Corps in Jalandhar on Wednesday. He replaced lieutenant general Sanjeev Madhok, who has been posted to the Army headquarters as director general of information and technology.


Lieutenant general Bakshi is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy Khadakvasala, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, and National Defence College New Delhi. He was commissioned in the Bihar Regiment in June 1975.  He has been decorated with the Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal for meritorious service.

Prior to this appointment, he had held the post of military secretary to the Indian president in Delhi. After taking over, he paid homage to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the war memorial.
