A resident of Phagwara, Amit Sharma has filed a complaint against Vardaan Infertility and Medical Research Centre with city police alleging 'negligence' in treatment of his wife which led to her death on Sunday morning.

Rashi Sharma was referred to Johal Hospital by Vardaan hospital on Thursday after she had developed complications during treatment.

Sharma alleged that doctor of Vardaan Infertility and Medical Research Centre kept them into dark during Rashi's treatment and did not even seek their consent before shifting her to Johal Hospital.

Amit also said his wife was under treatment at Vardan hospital to get her uterine septum removed. He also alleged that even the hospital did not reveal about the exact problem of his wife and who would operate her in Johal Hospital.

However, managing director of Vardaan Hospital Dr Vareesh Kumar said, "We have submitted our report to civil surgeon and police regarding the complications that occurred during her treatment."

He added that 'anaphylactic shock' which caused allergic reaction, had occured during Rashi's treatment, and that had caused her death.

SHO of police division-6, Rajinder Sharma, said the medical board of three Civil Hospital doctors was constituted on Wednesday to investigate the matter and appropriate action would be taken once the report was submitted to police.

Chief medical officer Dr RL Bassan said the three member-committee of specialist doctors under supervision of assistant civil surgeon Dr BS Multani, would submit report till Wednesday and only after that, exact cause of death can be ascertained.

The autopsy of the dead body had been carried out at Civil Hospital on Sunday afternoon, he added.
