Man injured by armed group near sessions court

In alleged case of gangwar, a group of armed men assaulted members of another group on the Court Road on Tuesday. The victims had just come out of the court, after appearing in connection with a murder case.


There was panic as people ran for cover, after 5-6 men armed with sharp-edged weapons rushed towards a tea stall just opposite the State Bank of India, branch  and stabbed a man. They attempted to attack another man also, but he managed to shield himself with a wooden stool. The miscreants managed to flee in their Tata Indica.

The bleeding person, identified as Satpal of Aslamabad, ran towards the session court, a few metres from the to show his plight to the judge concerned, but was stopped outside the court room. Later, he was admitted to the local civil hospital.

City sub-inspector Resham Singh went to the hospital to record Satpal's statement, but the doctors declared him unfit for this procedure. Sources, however, said that the accused had been identified. Satpal and Lakhwinder Singh of Vasant Vihar, had come to the court to give evidence in a double murder case involving their rival group.
