Talking to HT, commissioner MS Chattwal said, “The facility has been provided to the public at no extra cost. Our team is maintaining the whole process after getting the clearance from the audit officials of HDBC bank, who are our nodal partner for property tax collection.”

“Probably, we are the first one in the state to give online payment option to the residents and that too without charging extra," Chattwal said.

"Presently 20 camps are operating at different locations. Residents can also pay online using debit card or credit card of any bank and take print out of the receipt," he said.

"The application form and the model for calculation of property tax was already there on our portal. The online facility will not only reduce the rush at collection centers but also help check corruption," he said.

“The new tax regime is SAD-BJP alliance flagship scheme. The property tax is less than the house tax which was being charged earlier, which will go in favour of the alliance in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. We are also arranging camps on demand at different locations of the city," said mayor Sunil Jyoti.
