Missing youth found dead in Mukerian hydel channel

Body of the 22-year-old youth of Talwara, who was missing since January 23, was recovered from Mukerian hydel channel on Sunday. Hemant Kumar, B Tech student in CT institute Jalandhar, had left a suicide note on the basis of which the police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against one of his classmate Akshay Kumar, a resident of Kothi village in Himachal Pardesh's Hamirpur district.

In the note, he had written that Akshay had created a misunderstanding between him and another female classmate toward which he looked upon as his sister. He said because of the problem created by Akshay, the girl was not responding to his phone calls. "My soul would rest in peace when Akshay is handed over severest possible punishment", he wrote in suiside note, and apologised to his parents for his act.

Dasuya dputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sukhwinder Singh revealed that the aggrieved family had lodged a missing complaint with the police on January 23. "Today we received information that a body has been recovered from the hydel channel. We called the family which confirmed that it was Hemant's", he said.

He said a police party would be sent to Himachal Pardesh to arrest the accused.

Meanwhile the body was handed over to the kin after the post mortem. Deceased's father Dharamjit is a patwari in the state revenue department.
