Nakodar rape: SSP constitutes SIT, victim's mother under police supervision

Jalandhar (Rural) senior superintendent of police Yurinder Singh Hayar has constituted a special investigating team (SIT) to probe the rape of a three-year-old girl allegedly by her uncle.

In his order, Hayer said that for thorough investigation into the case, a SIT has been constituted headed by SP (D) Rajinder Singh.

Nakodar DSP, City SHO and in-charge Mahila Cell Jalandhar (rural) would be the members of the team. He said that SIT would investigate the case on the basis of facts and submit the report it accordingly at the earliest.

City SHO Subash Bath said that the accused have been handed over to CIA staff, Jalandhar after he was remanded to police custody till September 14 by a Jalandhar court. The accused has confessed to his crime during preliminary investigation, sources said.

SP (D) Rajinder Singh said that vaginal swabs of the victim have been sent to chemical examiner at Kharar laboratory and report is expected shortly.

He said that the mother of the victim is under the police supervision and would be arrested when the victim is discharged from PGIMER Chandigarh, adding that a challan in this case would be presented in a fast track court soon.
