NAPA to play decisive role in state parliamentary elections

North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), a US-based NGO has decided to play effective and decisive role in forthcoming parliamentary elections in Punjab.
After the series of state conferences held in Salem City of Oregon state of United States, to prepare the community members residing abroad for forthcoming parliamentary elections, NAPA chairman DS Dhoot said that, “We will prove that Overseas Punjabi community can play an important role in the politics of Punjab. Although we do not have our own votes in Punjab but we have our vote bank in Punjab and we are going to organise this vote bank which can be a deciding factor about the fate of election contesting politicians”.
“Every Assembly constituency will be controlled by a team of ten members of NAPA. And in this direction, a series of state conferences in Chicago, New York, Colorado, Washington, California, Texas and in some other cities are being scheduled,” he added.
NAPA spokesperson Satnam Singh Chahal said that it was decided in the meeting to send a message to the politicians of our state that now the times had gone when overseas Punjabi community used to be Dollar cow for them (politicians).
On February 28, two sessions of conference were held in which different issues related to community was deliberated. Promotion of Punjabi language and culture was also one of the agenda of the organisers and VISA problems were also discussed with CGI, a professional body.
