To safeguard the interests of Scheduled Castes, Dalit leader Paramjit Singh Kainth on Friday announced the launch of a new political outfit - National Scheduled Castes Alliance (NSCA).

Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, Kainth said that all the political parties in the state were power hungry. “The Congress Party has failed to play its role as an effective opposition. So, the need for a separate political outfit was being felt badly. We tend to implement to implement right to education Act in letter and spirit and fight against misuse of funds released under the Scheduled Castes sub-plan,” Kainth said.

“The NSCA is planning to field winnable candidates in the forth-coming Parliamentary elections. The selection of candidates will be done through a proper procedure and party will give ticket only to sincere individuals,” he added.

He said that an awareness campaign on the issue was being launched at the district levels all over Punjab.
“The SC MLAs and MPs in the Akali-BJP combine were not working for the welfare of the community. They are befooling the Scheduled Caste population, which accounts for 35% of the total population of Punjab. The community lacks leadership,” he added.
