The members of two groups clashed in the afternoon, after one Ravi Chhabra exchanged hot words with one Shibbu Lahoria. Within no time the verbal duel turned ugly as their supporters turned up at the scene and indulged in brick batting, police sources said.

Meanwhile, Shibbu Lahoria in his statement to the police accused Chhabra, against whom he had already filed a case which is pending in the court, of abusing him. However, Chhabra denied the allegation and alleged that Lahoria misbehaved with the aunt of one of his friends Gullu. He claimed that when Lahoria was confronted, he launched an attack on him, in which he received injuries.

During the clash, windowpanes of two of the cars of Lahoria were broken, allegedly by Chhabra and his accomplices.

Assistant police commissioner (west) Ravinder Pal Singh, who rushed to the spot and controlled the situation, said that investigation was still on. A case will be registered against whosoever is found on the wrong foot, he added.

Meanwhile, Chhabra was rushed to civil hospital, where his condition is stated to be normal, police said.

Case too hot: Police probe a cover-up?

Summons to Punjab revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia by the Enforcement Directorate has raised questions on the probe by the Punjab Police into the multi-crore drug racket. Busted with the arrest of Anoop Singh Kahlon, an NRI, by the Fatehgarh Sahib police in March 2013, it led to the arrest of alleged kingpin Jagdish Bhola, a dismissed Punjab deputy superintendent of police (DSP), in November last year.
