Learning lesson from recent controversy over songs of Punjabi rapper Honey Singh, Jalandhar deputy commissioner Tanu M Kashyap has ordered playing only cultural and decent songs in cultural fairs in the district.

She ordered that administration will give 'No Objection Certificate' only in a situation where the concerned organisation will give a surety that only decent and cultural songs will be played in fairs, otherwise no permission would be granted.

She said that there was an urgent need to stop indecent songs as they pollute our culture.

She also said that people can give a written complaint about songs playing on high volumes in buses, and action would be taken against such bus operators.

She ordered executive officers (EO) of municipal councils to place' Silence Zone Area' boards near schools, colleges or hospitals as soon as possible, and directed the police to take action against those using loudspeakers between 10 pm to 6 am.
