Four people have been arrested here on a charge of selling poppy husk.

The police claim to have seized 15 kilograms of the intoxicant from Baljit Singh Kaku of Ramewal village; Surjit Kumar of Gorsian Nihal; and Krishan Singh and Gurpreet Singh of Kot Kalan. They were in a Toyota Qualis car they had stolen on Saturday on the pretext of test drive. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused.

A case of cheating is lodged against Baljit Singh Kaku on the complaint of Narinder Singh of his village, Ramewal, owner of the stolen Toyota Qualis. He had suspected already that Baljit might use the car in some crime. Station house officer (SHO) concerned Parvinder Singh has confirmed the registering of that case.

The police also arrested a proclaimed offender, Joginder Singh of Burj Hassan village, and claim to have seized 3-kg poppy husk from him.
