The Punjab BJP president Kamal Sharma on Sunday urged the state government to take cognisance of the former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s reported allegation about past terror links of the Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa while asking the latter to also come ‘clean on the issue in public domain’.
“It’s a serious allegation having repercussions on country’s security and integrity. The state government must take cognisance of Amarinder’s allegations that Bajwa had links with terrorists in the past. Besides, the Congress should also take notice of the same and take appropriate action in this regard,” Sharma, who was in the city to launch party’s funds collection drive for Uttarakhand victims, said.
Amarinder reportedly sent a confidential letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi before Bajwa replaced the former as PPCC chief that the Gurdaspur MP had terror links in the past and should not be handed over the baton of the state Congress presidentship.
“The nation has every right to know truth behind terror links of this politician. The state government may ask Amarinder to share details of Bajwa’s terror links so as to proceed further,” he quipped, adding that the Congress was main root cause behind decade long Punjab terrorism.
“How arms and ammunition were secured entry and were stored in to Harmandir Sahib and how Dal Khalsa was funded? How terrorism was engineered in the state? The people have right to know answers of all these questions. Congress has not only promoted terror in Punjab for vote politics, but the same policy has been applied in Assam and Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Sharma disclosed the BJP president Rajnath Singh would preside over two days Punjab BJP executive committee meeting scheduled to start from July 6 at Amritsar. “The functioning of the SAD-BJP alliance government will be reviewed during the meet. We will discuss issues pertaining to problems of the traders and industrialists with regard to VAT refund, status of welfare schemes and implementation of promises made in poll manifesto during the executive meeting,” he quipped.
On inordinate delay in appointment of chairpersons of various improvement trusts, boards and corporations, Sharma maintained that the list of probable BJP leaders was being prepared and the appointments would be made very soon. “Similarly, appointment of district presidents of Jalandhar and Mukerian units will be made very soon,” he said.
Sharma expressed concern over delay in notifying district grievances redressal committees. “I will take up the issue with the chief minister and ensure committees will be formed as soon as possible,” he added.
Sharma tenders apology
Sharma tendered ‘unconditional’ apology for act of a party worker in depicting a bitch’s picture as that of AICC president Sonia Gandhi on facebook even as the Punjab Congress leader Sanjay Sehgal has lodged a complaint with the city police, seeking registration of an FIR under provisions of the Information Technology (IT) act.
“I tender unconditional apology for act of party worker Sandeep Bhalla in posting a bitch’s picture as that of Congress president Sonia Gandhi on facebook. I will take strict action against the party activist and the post will be immediately removed from the social networking site. We respect the women and such acts will not be allowed,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sehgal alleged BJP workers had stooped too low for fetching cheap publicity on social media that they had shown disrespect to entire women community by this act. “The BJP campaign committee chairman Narendra Modi’s advice to party cadre to use social media for propagating saffron party’s cause has seemingly turned out to be a blunder, if such acts are an indication. The police must register an FIR in this regard,” he added.
