Roof-collapse kills three

Three labourers were killed late on Tuesday when roof of the room they were sleeping in collapsed due to lightning. Two of the labourers survived the mishap with injuries.


The deceased were identified as Mallu, Samson and Heera, while Vicky and Jeevan were injured, police said.

Five labourers, who were engaged by a farmer of Narawal village for planting poplar saplings in his field, were sleeping in the tubewell room of the field. As soon as the villagers came to know about the mishap, they rushed to rescue the labourers, but they couldn't save three of them, deputy superintendent of police Jasbir Singh Rai, who also had visited the spot, told Hindustan Times.

The two survivors were rushed to civil hospital, where their condition is stated to be critical, Rai added.
