Rs 116 crore to be spent on over bridges and roads

To strengthen link road connectivity and ensure hassle free movement of traffic, a sum of Rs. 116.77 crore was being spent in the district for the construction of railway over bridges and renovation of roads, deputy commissioner Varun Roojam said here on Tuesday.


He revealed that 16.50 kilometre road connecting Binewal and Khurali villages was being strengthened and widened at a cost of Rs. 11.55 crore work for which work had already begun. Similarly 35.50 kilometre road from Hoshiarpur to Phagwara was being renovated at a cost of Rs. 45 Crore, he added.

The DC said that construction work of railway over bridge at Mukerian-Gurdaspur road near Naushehra Pannuan was going on in full swing and almost 50 % work had been completed. The total project would cost around Rs. 14.22 crore, he informed. He further added that 91 kilometre roads would be upgraded at Rs. 46 crore under Pardhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna scheme.
