Property Tax Sangharsh Committee, a common front of various opposition parties and NGOs, on Monday staged a protest against the imposition of property tax in the state.

The activists held a demonstration in front of the municipal corporation office and fluttered black flags to register their protest. A large number of locals also participated in the protest.

Addressing the rally, Balwant Singh Khera, vice-president of Socialsit Party (India), Naveen Jairth, national executive member of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Jai Gopal Dhiman, president of Social Democratic Party and others said that the SAD-BJP government was burdening its people by levying one or the other tax every other day whereas it was offering big incentives to capitalists. The government had failed to provide even basic amenities to the citizens, they alleged. They asked the people not to deposit property tax and appealed them to join the struggle.
