Seven medical stores raided; five issued notices

The police and the district health department jointly raided seven medical stores of the town late evening on Thursday.


The team seized banned intoxicants, being sold as medicines, worth Rs. 10,000 from five of these stores. At Khingra Gate, intoxicants worth Rs. 348 were seized from Renal medicos and worth Rs. 2,772 from Khinda Medicine Centre.

At the Kishanpura Chowk, intoxicants worth Rs. 755 were seized from Bhogal Medicine Centre and worth Rs. 3,000 from Simrat Medicos.

Intoxicants worth Rs. 3,300 were seized from New Happy Medicos at Mandi road.

The five medicine stores have been issued a notice and samples have been sent to the state drug controlling department for testing.

Drug inspector Navdeep Singh Sidhu, Amarjit Singh, Sandeep Kaushik and police officials were part of the raiding team.
