Snatchers' gang busted

The police claim to have busted a gang of snatchers and arrested three men on Sunday, allegedly involved in a dozen snatching incidents.

The youths were identified as Yuvraj Singh of Basti Bawa Khel, Raj Kumar and Akshay of local Raj Nagar of city.

In a press release, the police said that SHO division Number-5 Rajender Kumar along with police party had placed a naka near Kala Sangha road on Sunday morning.

Suddenly, three youths coming on two bikes, turned back after seeing police on the road but police managed to catch them.

Then, police recovered 530 gm, 510 gm and 335 gm intoxicant powder from possession of Yuvraj, Raj Kumar and Akshay respectively.

The police said that during interrogation, both Yuvraj and Raj admitted that they have snatched a purse from a woman on February 27 near Ice Factory, Basti Nau and executed dozen incidents of purse and mobile snatching for past few months in city along with Akshay.

The police also said that youths were using fake vehicle registration numbers on the bikes.

Cases under various sections have been registered at police station against the youth.
