Special women force deployed to check eve-teasing and snatching

To check growing incidents of eve-teasing and snatching, the city police on Tuesday formed a Women Armed Special Protection Squad, equipped with especially-designed 15 Activa scooters to patrol the city.

Women cops on 15 Activa scooters, equipped with service revolvers and a wireless set would be on patrolling duty from 9 am to 8 pm, additional commissioner of police (ACP) Diljinder Singh Dhillon, told reporters adding that the force could be contacted on the toll free number of 1091.

On getting a call, a patrolling party would be instructed to visit the spot of crime immediately, ADCP said adding that in case extra force is required to control the situation, the team must inform their superiors.

The force would be headed by Woman assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Manjit Kaur, the ADCP said adding that special training had been imparted to the women cops in the team.

'Cong to move SC for CBI probe in drug charges against Majithia'
