Twelve students from Doaba clear IIT-JEE

Twelve students from Doaba region have secured top ranks in the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), the results to which were declared on Thursday.

The test is conducted for admissions into 16 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad.

As many as 1.19 lakh students had appeared for the examination on May 25. Aditi, a student of Swami Sant Dass Public School, bagged the 7th all India rank and is topper among girl candidates across the country. There are five female candidates among top 100. She scored 314 marks out of 360.

She got 95.4% in non-medical stream in the CBSE Class-12 examination. Daughter of a professor couple at Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jalandhar, she aspires to clear the civil services examination.

Aditi said she would pursue B.Tech in computer science. She has scored 412 out of 450 marks in JEE main.

Nitin Rathore, a student of Kulwant Rai Jain DAV Public School, Kapurthala, bagged the second position in Doaba region and state as well.

Nitin scored 86th all India rank with 281 marks out of 360 with 291 marks in JEE main. He gives credit of his success to his parents. Son of a senior section engineer at Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, Nitin wants to pursue computer science in IIT Delhi.

Piyush Tayal, a student of Apeejay School, secured 607 all India rank with 241 marks and bagged third position in the state. He had also secured second position in the district in CBSE examination with 97.2% marks.

"My first priority is computer science and second electronics," said Piyush.

Yadhuvar Singla, a student of Swami Sant Dass Public School, bagged 108th rank in physically-handicapped category.

Akshay Bhola from Seth Hukam Chand SD Model School, Prem Nagar has scored 899th all India rank. He scored 90% marks in the board examination.

Akshay, whose father is into jewellery business, wants to get into machinery-making enterprise."Mechanical engineering is my first priority. I attribute my success to my family and teachers," he said. 

While Akarshan Gupta of MGN Public School bagged 2,030th all India rank, Dilpreet Singh of the same school secured 2,683th all India rank.

Ankush Babbar, a student of Innocent Hearts School, bagged 3,874th all India rank and Nikhil Sharma of the same school also cleared IIT entrance with 4,545th all India rank.
 
Kushagar, student of Swami Sant Dass Public School bagged 5622 all India rank that scored 94.2% in board exams.

Bimalpreet Singh of MGN Public School bagged 6500 rank while Rishab Arora, student of Seth Hukam Chand SD Model School, Prem Nagar also cleared IIT entrance with 13,812 rank.
