Two drug peddlers arrested with 17 gm heroin

Two alleged drug peddlers, including a woman, were today arrested separately and 17 gm heroin was seized from them, police said.

The accused have been identified as Shankuntala, a resident of Magupath here, and Narinder Singh, a resident of Gagwal in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, police said.

While nine gram heroin was recovered from a packet that Shankuntala had thrown on the ground on seeing policemen, eight gram heroin was seized from Narinder Singh, police said.

While Shankuntala was arrested from near Khera Road railway barrier, Narinder was arrested from near Sabzi Mandi on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur Road, police said.

The arrests were made under sections of the NDPS Act, police said.
