A local businessman has alleged that valuables worth Rs. 13 lakh were found missing from a locker of civil lines branch of Punjab National Bank (PNB) which he operated after a gap of three years.

Addressing the mediapersons here on Tuesday, Sanjeev Kumar Sharma and his wife Shashi Sharma, residents of local Mandi road here, said: “On November 27, when we opened the locker, all valuables stored there were missing. We have approached the bank manager but no action has been taken so far.”

On November 30, the couple also moved application to the commissioner of police. The missing valuables include gold and diamond jewellery, he said.

“We suspect that someone from the bank is involved in the crime,” Sharma said.

Mukesh Taneja, assistant general manager of civil lines branch of PNB, denied the allegations and said: “We can't do anything as no visible alteration was seen on the locker. The locker owners normally have more than one locker, probably he might have forgotten where he had kept the valuables,” he said.
