Veteran soldier’s 100th birthday celebrated

The Vajra Corps on Tuesday celebrated the 100th birthday of veteran soldier Kashmira Singh at his residence in Model Town.


The wheelchair-bound veteran was greeted by a team of Vajra Corps led by General Officer Commanding (GOC)Lt Gen Ashwini Kumar Bakshi.

A birthday cake was cut by Kashmira Singh in presence of his family members. The GOC Vajra Corps presented him a memento and a shawl. Singh’s younger daughter Surinder Jaswal was present with her husband. Major Kashmira Singh participated in the 1947 Indo-Pak war, Indo-China war in 1962 and Indo-Pak War of 1965. He had an illustrious career spanning three decades.
