Villager held with 50-kg poppy

The Mehatpur police have arrested a villager on charges of selling poppy husk. SHO Manjit Singh said the accused, identified as Shivcharan Singh, is a resident of Dharme Dian Chhana village and 50-kg poppy husk has been seized from his possession. A case under Sections of the NDPS Act has been registered against Shivcharan and his brothers Daler Singh, Balwinder Singh and father Surjit Singh, who managed to flee from the spot.
