Woman, paramour held for killing her brother-in-law

The district rural police claimed to have solved a blind murder case within two days with the arrest of two, including a close woman relative of the victim, and her paramour.


On May 21, the body of man, Sita Ram, was found in the fields of Ghuraka village. The body carried injury mark with sharp-edged weapons and the police registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC against unidentified people at the Goraya police station.

A special investigation team was constituted to probe the murder, SP Rajinder Singh said, adding that the vicitm's sister-in-law Surinder Kaur was detained on the basis of suspicion.

Kaur, whose husband is settled in Dubai, had developed an intimate relationship with her brother-in-law. However, recently she had developed a relationship with one Pawan Kumar, a resident of Bir Bansian village.

As Kaur started to avoid Sita Ram, he started black-mailing and also forcing her to continue with the illicit relationship.

Pawan and Kaur waylaid Ram with sharp-edged and his body was thrown into the fields of Ghuraka village.

The accused have been arrested and a case under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC has been registered against them, the SP said.
