Woman's murder solved with arrest of lover

In connection with the murder of a woman, whose body was found in a field in Wariana village on May 4, the police on Friday arrested her lover, Hira Lal.

The body of Poonam (27), a resident of Nandanpur village, bore injury marks and the police had registered a murder case. She was a divorcee and mother of 6-year-old daughter and was staying with her parents at Nandanpur village for the last couple of years.

During investigation, the police learnt that the victim was in a relationship with Hira Lal. The police rounded him up for questioning, who confessed that he had killed Poonam on May 3.

The accused told the police that he was having a strained relationship with Poonam for the last couple of months and on May 3, he consumed liquor and took her to Kartarpur.

On the way, the accused said, broke his liquor bottle and slapped him. After this the accused drove to an isolated field in Wariana village and strangled her to death with the help of her dupatta.
