2 killed, 2 injured in mishap on JK highway in Ramban

Two persons died and two injured, one of them critically, on Thursday when a car in which they were travelling in fell into a 300-feet gorge on Jammu- Srinagar highway in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The accident took place near Banihal this morning, officials said, adding that those killed have been identified as driver Rajesh Kumar of Jammu and Mohmmad Khan of Punjab.

The two injured, one of them seriously, were shifted to SKIMS Srinagar, they said, adding the injured have been identified as Akhber Khan of Punjab and Pardeep Kumar of Jammu.

A case has been registered, they said.

More bodies found, toll touches 277

The death toll in the Jammu and Kashmir floods has reached 277, including 79 deaths in the Kashmir Valley. The figure was confirmed by chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday. Rescue workers have so far recovered 74 bodies since water started receding from different parts of the Valley.
