DDC reviews arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr celebration

After taking over as Doda district development commissioner (DDC), Shyam Vinod Meena convened a meeting of prominent citizens and district officers to review the arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr at the meeting hall of the DC office here on Wednesday.


The citizens apprised the DDC of the arrangements required to be made for the smooth celebration of the festival and demanded adequate and affordable supply of food items, fruit, vegetables, mutton and chicken.

Besides they requested the administration to ensure drinking water and power supply, sanitation, traffic management etc during the celebrations.

Regarding the shortage of essential commodities supplied through public distribution system (PDS), the DDC directed the official concerened to streamline the supply within two days.

He said he would inspect food stores in the district to ensure adequate food supply to the consumers. On the issue of sanitation in the Doda municipal limits, the officials of local body were directed to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation of the city within three days.

Similarly, he directed the officials concerned of various departments to provide best of facilities to the citizens for the smooth celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

More bodies found, toll touches 277

The death toll in the Jammu and Kashmir floods has reached 277, including 79 deaths in the Kashmir Valley. The figure was confirmed by chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday. Rescue workers have so far recovered 74 bodies since water started receding from different parts of the Valley.
