The BJP has committed a great mistake by choosing Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Saifuddin Soz told mediapersons here on Monday.

Soz alleged, "Projecting Narendra Modi will prove to be a great blunder by the BJP, and it can never come to power at the centre, because people of the country believe in secularism and will not accept the party's divisive policies."

"He (Modi) does not know anything about history, politics and propaganda. How can they (BJP) nominate such a person for the post of prime minister of the country? I have convinced myself that the BJP will realise that their prime ministerial candidate does not meet the requirements at all. He is not an organised person," he added.

Accusing him of having little knowledge of history, Soz said, "He has no knowledge of history and his facts are incorrect. He has made number of goof ups."

Terming Modi's rally in Jammu as a non-event, Soz said, "He (Modi) was not able to cut much ice. His impact has not been much, and the BJP has not gained anything in Jammu from his visit."

On Modi's demand asking for fresh debate on the validity of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Soz said, "He does not know what Article 370 is. What he said was off the reality. Article 370 is irrevocable, as it is an integral part of the Indian Constitution. Moreover, why did the BJP not abrogate Article 370 during the NDA regime? No power can finish this. Congress party has resolutely supported article 370. I think Modi was not briefed properly by the state unit. It is such a delicate subject. He got confused whether to demand abrogation of Article 370 or a debate on the subject."

On the issue of state subject, Soz said, "He (Modi) is ignorant about state subject. State subject is a secular law which applies to all people of the state. He was totally blank. Soon, the BJP will realise that the party is not safe under Modi."
