Pakistan once again violated the ceasefire agreement by firing along the LoC in Krishan Ghati sector, Poonch on Tuesday night.

A defence spokesperson said that Pakistan fired along the forward posts last night. “The firing started at 11 pm on Tuesday and continued for some time. Our troops also retaliated in a calibrated manner. There was no damage of causality on our side,” said the defence spokesperson.

Pakistan has increased the intensity of firing along the LoC this week. On Monday, a jawan was killed when an IED planted by Pakistan along the LoC in Akhnoor had exploded. Two jawans were also injured in the incident.

Pakistan has been consistently firing along the LoC from Rajouri-Poonch sector to push infiltrators, but has not been successful so far.

However, the Indian army’s response has been restrained, though calibrated. In a goodwill gesture to ease tension along the borders, the army handed over two shepherds who had inadvertently crossed over the LoC from  the PoK on May 20. They were handed over to the Pak army on Wednesday at Chakan-Da-Bagh area in Poonch.
