Jarkhar Sports Festival enters Day 2

Jarkhar Sports Festival entered Day 2 at Jarkhar village amid great enthusiasm and action on Friday. In the opening hockey match of the day, CRPF despite facing tough resistance from its opponent ITBP in the first half of the match, managed to dominate it in the other half where they converted two penalty strokes into goals to bag the match 4-2.

However, hosts Jarkhar Sports Academy had to suffice with a draw against tough contender Haryana XI. With almost equal ball possession percentage in the match both the teams played an attacking game here at the Mata Sahib Kaur, Jarkhar Sports Academy hockey stadium which ended with 2-2 goals.

The match between Signal and BSF teams was dominated by the former and who kept scoring at regular intervals to thrash BSF by 3-1.

In the fourth and final encounter of the day, the PSPCL defeated Punjab University by 3-1. While keeping the maximum ball possession with them, the match proved to be a cakewalk for the PSPCL.

Earlier on day one, Signal team won against hosts Jarkhar Sports Academy by 4-0 while ITBP defeated Punjab University by 3-2. The match between BSF and Haryana XI, and PSPCL and CRPF ended in draw.

In handball, Taran Taran defeated Jalandhar girls 12-1 while Ropar won against Gurdaspur by 16-1 in their league matches.
In the boys category, Mukatsar defeated Jalandhar in a one sided affair by 14-0 points.

In basketball (boys) Malout defeated Doraha by 44-23 points while Sahnewal lost to Doraha by 13-21 in the girls category. The match between Ludhiana academy and Ludhiana district was on till the filing of this report.
