All India Jat Arakshan Sangrash Samiti (AIJASS) has threatened to gherao Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence if their demand of providing reservation under OBC category was not met.
Addressing a gathering in Dadri on Tuesday, AIJASS's national president Yashpal Malik said that the samiti would gherao PM's residence and other union ministers if their demand was not met before first week of July.
He also accused the prime minister of turning back from his promises, saying that during their meeting the prime minister had assured to include Jat community under the OBC category before March 26, but did nothing.
Briefing about the strategy, Malik said a meeting of AIJASS representatives from several states, including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan, would be held in Delhi on July 1 to chalk out the plan.
Malik said that volunteers would soon be given duties to garner support for its demand. He added that demand of reservation benefits was legitimate and the community would insist the Centre to accept it.
Meanwhile, the organisation leadership said that a national free helpline number- 180030023455-had been launched where people could register themselves for the AIJASS's agenda.
Malik said that a page on Facebook and Twitter had also been started to garner support from various age groups and each district unit would have its own cyber space on the popular social networking sites.
