The recent comment by Jat leader Hawa Singh Sangwan describing Haryana chief minister as ‘Pakistani’ has attracted a strong reaction from unexpected quarters, with a delegation of Congress leaders calling on Haryana governor Kapkat Singh Solanki on Friday to seek his intervention.

Led by former minister AC Chaudhary, a delegation of Haryanvi Punjabi Welfare Sabha members called on Solanki and submitted a memorandum flaying Sangwan for his remark wherein he had also said all Punjabis who migrated from Pakistan after Partition were “Pakistanis’’ and “exploiter of the peasant class’’.

Chaudhary, also president of the Sabha, later interacted with newspersons and said that Sangwan’s statement was totally un-acceptable, being inappropriate, anti-social, abusive, anti-national, highly insulting and abusive.

He said that members of the Punjabi community were the real freedom fighters who fought for the Independence of the India and it should have been conferred with the status of community of freedom fighters.
