Jewellery worth Rs 9 lakh and Rs 3 lakh cash “stolen” from Panchkula house

A theft of jewellery reportedly worth Rs 9 lakh and cash amounting to Rs 3 lakh took place at a house in Sector 17 here on Tuesday.


Megha, complainant in the case, told the police that she along with her husband Rohit runs a beauty parlour in Zirakpur.

On Tuesday, they went to their beauty parlour in the afternoon but when they came back in the night they found locks of the door broken.

When they went inside, they found the belongings scattered around.

Megha informed the police that all the locks of cupboards were broken and the thieves decamped with two diamond rings, chains, earrings, gold set.

They also reportedly took away Rs 3 lakh cash which was kept at different places in the house.

The police registered the case under section 457 (for trespass) and section 380 (for theft) of the Indian Penal Code. “We are investigating the case.

We will soon arrest the suspect,” said inspector Surinder Singh, SHO of Sector 14 police station.
