Jilted lover stabs woman, arrested

Jilted over snapping ties, a man stabbed his paramour on Thursday at her rented accommodation in New Shimla Colony of Basti Jodhewal. The woman has been rushed to civil hospital, where her condition has been said to be stable. She suffered injuries on face and hand.

The locals have nabbed the accused, Sunny, a resident of Hargobind Nagar, and handed him over to the Basti Jodhewal police. The police have initiated proceedings to register the case.

The victim, Anjali, 28, was married to Raj Kumar. The couple has two children from the marriage. They had got separated with mutual understanding around six months back. The woman had started living with Sunny.

Raj Kumar, who is present at the hospital with Anjali, said, “Sunny had started mistreating their children. Therefore, Anjali decided to snap ties with him and had started living at New Shimla Colony in a rented accommodation with children.”

The people informed the police that nabbed the accused and also recovered two knives from the spot. Additional SHO at Basti Jodhewal police station sub-inspector Kamal Dutt said the police would register a case after recording the statement of the victim.
