When every singer is trying his luck in movies then why should I be left behind, said Gitaz Bindrakhia, son of legendary Punjabi singer Late Surjit Bindrakhia whose first Punjabi movie 'Just U & Me' is releasing on December 6. Gitaz had, so far, an album 'Jind Mahi' to his credit.

Playing opposite a fresh face of Punjabi movies Priyal Gor, who had appeared in TV serials, Bindrakhia said, “We understand that it is a trend these days but, in the end, whosoever is noticed by the people, will survive. Already many of the singers have come out to be successful actors also. People wait for their movies."

Bindrakhia, along with his on-screen heroine Priyal, came to the HT office on Wednesday as part of their promotional drive.

Hopeful of the success of the movie, the leading stars of the movie said, “Ours is a romcom (romantic comedy) kind of story but with a difference. People would surely appreciate its theme, our performance and hard work."

Priyal Gor, the brand ambassador of Fair and Lovely, has six serials to her credit, but she is hopeful of strengthening her roots in Punjabi movies as well. “I have no Punjabi background but I was determined to do it on my own. I did not use dubbing and spoke my dialogues in Punjabi. I knew it well that if I need to survive, I have to learn Punjabi,” she said.

“I never faced any awkwardness and problem while working with the star cast of the movie as many of them belong to the Bollywood. We all enjoyed all the shoot sessions, most of which were shot outside Punjab,” she said.

Narrating the storyline Gitaz revealed, “It is the story about two spoiled youths. They both run away from their homes to lead independent lives. The story is full of fun and romance.”

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shaan, Joji Ali Khan, Lehmber Hussainpuri are among the singers who have contributed their voice to the songs of the film.

“I responded to the call of producers. This is another difference in the films. In other films, singers-turned-heroes had sung their songs but I concentrated on acting only,” Gitaz said.
