"The people have already rejected Gopal Kanda and the future of his proposed new political outfit would be bleak. The lower rung leaders who are seen with him have already been discarded by the people. His withdrawal of support would make no difference to the govt," said Ashok Tanwar, president, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), while talking to newspersons at Fatehabad.

He was taking part in a function organised to mark and celebrate the birth anniversary of Parshu Ram.

He said that the party would take disciplinary action against those who were making baseless statements against the party or its leadership. The Congress leader refused to comment on the issue of alleged phone-tapping and said the government could answer the queries about it.

The HPCC chief said, "We are trying to find out the facts and the names of the party leaders who had opposed the Congress candidates in the recent elections and action will be taken accordingly.

We have sought reports from district presidents in this regard. The HPCC will be re-organised after the results."

In reply to a question about re-organising the HPCC, he said, "We shall assess the situation and if needed, the presidents of the district units will also be replaced.

On Punjab Lok Sabha elections, he said that the Congress would win 11 seats in Punjab. "Arun Jaitley, Vinod Khanna and Harsimrat Kaur Badal are going to lose the elections. The graph of BJP is going down fast and there is no Modi wave in the country," Tanwar said.

He exhorted the people to follow the path shown by Parshu Ram and shun casteism.
