The police on Thursday booked an incharge of local shelter home Apna Ghar on the charge of beating up inmates and taking them in wrongful confinement.
The case was registered in the evening on the directions of deputy commissioner Renu Phulia.
Confirming the development to Hindustan Times, Phulia said the inmates had alleged that a few days ago, incharge Monica had beaten them up. On Tuesday, all 11 inmates of Apna Ghar, including five minor girls, were shifted out of the home to two orphanages after it failed to comply with provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. The home was being run from a dingy two-room accommodation on the first floor of a shop in Sector 9 here.
