The body of Manjit Singh, 22, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Mission Bay, a sea beach in Auckland, New Zealand, on May 13, was cremated on Thursday.

The body was brought from New Zealand on Thursday and the last rites were performed at his native village Darar, near here.

Manjit was studying at the International College of Auckland and was scheduled to get a management degree on June 20. His parents were planning to visit New Zealand to celebrate the occasion.

Manjit's father Jeet Singh said he left his apartment to meet a relative in the vicinity but never reached there. His body, with injury marks on the face, was found 40km from his apartment.

The family suspects that Manjit was killed by someone due to ulterior motive but they are yet to get any official confirmation from the NZ Police.
