Lal Bagh Welfare Society organised a cultural function to pay tributes and commemorate the 100th death anniversary of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha.
Ruzgar Prapti Sabhyacharak Manch, Moga, a group of unemployed educated youth, presented an emotional drama, ‘Chhipan ton Pehlan’, written by Davinder Daman, depicting the last moments of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s dialogue with jail officials and his mother before he was to be taken for hanging.
The Manch also presented dance performances on, ‘Dharti Punjab Di’ and ‘Zulum da Iqbal’. Sukhcharan Kaur, Sukhchandan Singh and Kasturi Lal sang enthralling songs of the freedom movement.
Tributes were paid to the martyr by Hari Om Sharma, sarpanch of new rajguru nagar panchayat, chief guest Gurcharan Singh and Pirthipal Singh, member of Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Committee, Jalandhar. RS Brar, president, Lal Bagh Welfare Society, addressed the role of Sarabha and his companions.
A unit of Tarksheel Society, Ludhiana, also urged the audience and appealed them to beware of the present day fake babas and so called gurus.
